Students gain introductory knowledge and skills in basic precision machining and workforce readiness skills. This includes an introduction to employability success, basic shop math and hand measurement, blueprint reading, fundamental quality principles, workplace safety, use of various hand tools and safe operation of machine shop equipment such as, mills, lathes, grinders, band saw and drill presses.  Employability success will be evaluated throughout the training.

The program consists of online theory training and behind the wheel (BTW) hands-on training.  The online portion must be completed first.  It is self paced, but must be completed within 21 days.  BTW training, which includes range, driving, backing and port of entry site visit, varies in duration by CDL type and experience.  A typical "Class A" student can expect to complete their hands-on training in four weeks.

Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) Theory is the first step toward earning a Commercial Driver License (CDL). This self-paced online course meets Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements and provides the foundational knowledge needed for safe commercial vehicle operation. Students must successfully complete ELDT Theory before beginning hands-on Behind-the-Wheel training. The course is designed to prepare future drivers for obtaining their Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) and advancing to CDL skills training.

Participants will receive expert-led instruction and practical, lab-based training in core competencies aligned with real-world broadband deployment demands culminating in three certifications from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA): Certified Fiber Optic Technician, Certified Fiber Optic Specialist in Testing, and Certified Fiber Optic Specialist in Splicing. This open-shop welding workshop provides hands-on access to welding machines while covering the fundamentals of SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW. Whether you're a first-time welder looking to learn the basics or an experienced welder preparing for certification, we'll meet you at your skill level and help you achieve your goals.
